Accused Ram Mahto Arrested in Duldula Police Station Area
In an operation within the Duldula police station area, authorities arrested Ram Mahto (age 19, resident of Ghata village, Senha police station, Lohardaga district, Chhattisgarh), who was found smuggling bovines in a pickup truck. On July 22, 2025, intelligence was received about a pickup vehicle (registration number JH 01 CP 2811) transporting bovines from Bagicha towards Jharkhand via Charaidand, Patratoli, and Loro Ghat.

Under the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police Jashpur, Mr. Shashi Mohan Singh, Duldula police set up a roadblock on National Highway 43 in Patratoli. During the vehicle checks, the suspicious vehicle was intercepted. Upon inspection, two bovines were found tied inside. Driver Ram Mahto failed to produce any valid documents related to the bovines. Police immediately registered a case against him under Sections 4, 6, and 10 of the Chhattisgarh Krushak Pashu Parirakshan Adhiniyam 2004 (Chhattisgarh Farmers’ Cattle Preservation Act 2004) and took him into custody. In addition to rescuing the two bovines, the pickup truck used for smuggling was also seized.

During interrogation, the accused Ram Mahto revealed that the vehicle belonged to Shamshad Qureshi Hussain, a resident of Lohardaga, and he was transporting the bovines to Lohardaga at Hussain’s behest. Police are continuing their investigation into this matter. Ram Mahto has been formally arrested and sent to judicial remand.

Police safely recovered the 06 bovines from the scene and arranged for their health examination by a veterinary doctor. The search for the absconding smugglers is ongoing, and police anticipate their swift arrest.

Cases have been registered against the accused in both incidents under Sections 4, 6, 10 of the Chhattisgarh Krushak Pashu Parirakshan Adhiniyam 2004 and Sections 11 (1)(a)(d) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960.
