Raigarh Police Conduct ‘Operation Aghaat’ Against Gogo Paper & E-Cigarettes; 35 Traders Penalized

Ahead of Holi, SSP Shashi Mohan Singh Leads Massive Raid on Pan Stalls Selling Intoxicants

Raigarh: In a major decisive action against the rising trend of substance abuse, the Raigarh Police, under the specialized “Operation Aghat,” conducted simultaneous raids across the district on Saturday. Targeted at curbing the sale of “Gogo” (rolling paper used for narcotics) and other intoxicants at local pan stalls, the operation resulted in strict action against 35 shopkeepers.

The Crackdown StrategyThe operation was launched following specific intelligence received by SSP Shashi Mohan Singh regarding the clandestine sale of “Gogo” and other harmful substances at petty shops and pan stalls.

Under the guidance of Additional SP Anil Kumar Sony and the leadership of CSP Mayank Mishra, joint teams of the Police and Health Department swooped down on various locations including Kotwali, Chakradharnagar, Kotraroad, Jutemill, Pusaur, Tamnar, and Lailunga.District-Wide Action Summary The joint teams inspected numerous shops and imposed spot fines and restrictive legal actions.

The breakdown of the action is as follows:

Kotwali: 6 shopkeepers penalized in Rajiv Nagar, Rampur, and Chandmari areas.

Chakradharnagar: 4 individuals booked near Medical College and Panjri Plant.

Kotraroad: 6 shops raided in Kirodimal Nagar and Patrapali; fines of ₹800 each imposed.

Jutemill: 5 shopkeepers faced action at Kashiram Chowk and Transport Nagar.

Pusaur & Tamnar: 9 shopkeepers fined for stocking prohibited materials.

Lailunga: 5 shops near Atal Chowk were fined by a team including Dr. Priya Singh.

SSP’s Stern Warning Issuing a high-alert message ahead of the Holi festival, SSP Shashi Mohan Singh stated:”The illegal sale, distribution, or consumption of any intoxicant will not be tolerated. Those found involved in such activities will face rigorous legal consequences and imprisonment. I also urge parents to keep a close watch on their children’s activities to prevent them from falling into the trap of addiction.

“The Raigarh Police have appealed to the general public to stay away from drugs and report any illegal activities to the District Control Room or the concerned Station House Officer (SHO) immediately to ensure a peaceful festive season.
