RAIGARH POLICE STRIKES HARD: “OPERATION AAGHAT” SEIZES 2,845 LITRES LIQUOR, 100 KG GANJA & 2,963 KG OPIUM WORTH ₹4.5 CRORE IN JUST 2 MONTHS

Raigarh | March 29, 2026 In a massive and unprecedented crackdown on narcotics and illegal liquor, Raigarh Police has delivered a decisive blow under the ongoing “Operation Aaghat”, completing two months of intensive enforcement with remarkable results.Led by Senior Superintendent of Police Shashi Mohan Singh, the district police launched this aggressive anti-narcotics campaign immediately after he assumed charge on January 26, 2026, with a clear zero-tolerance policy against illegal liquor, drug trafficking, and gambling.

⸻🚨 Historic Seizures & Arrests in 60 DaysOver the last two months (Jan 26 – Mar 26), Raigarh Police has carried out well-coordinated, intelligence-driven operations across the district,

resulting in: •

🔹 2,845 litres of illegal liquor seized (including country-made, foreign, and Mahua liquor)

• 🔹 100+ kilograms of ganja seized •

🔹 2,963 kilograms of illegal opium (with plants) seized •

🔹 Total estimated value: ₹4.5 crore •

🔹 394 accused arrested •

🔹 24 vehicles seized (21 two-wheelers & 3 four-wheelers used in trafficking)⸻🍶 Crackdown on Illegal Liquor •

357 cases registered, 367 accused arrested • 149 accused booked under non-bailable Excise Act provisions •

2,612 litres of Mahua liquor seized alone • Continuous action against public drinking & illegal brewing hubs➡️ These actions have significantly curbed cross-border smuggling from Odisha.

⸻🌿 Ganja Trafficking Network Hit • 16 cases registered, 27 traffickers arrested • 100+ kg ganja seized (approx. ₹25.5 lakh value)➡️ Focused operations dismantled Odisha-route ganja smuggling networks.

⸻🌱 Major Action Against Illegal Opium Cultivation • 4 cases registered, 7 accused arrested • Massive seizure of 2,963 kg opium (with plants) • Estimated value: ₹4.18 crore➡️ Targeted action in Tamnar (Amaghat) and Lailunga (Naveen Ghatgaon, Mudagaon) areas.
