Police Dog Ruby Cracks Sensational Blind Murder Case, Sniffs Out Killer Friend; Raigarh Police Solve Brutal Killing Within 72 Hours

In a remarkable display of scientific investigation aided by police canine intelligence, Raigarh Police solved a blind murder case within 72 hours, with Police Dog Ruby playing a decisive role in identifying the accused.

Acting under the leadership of Senior Superintendent of Police Shashi Mohan Singh, and under the supervision of Additional SP Anil Soni and SDOP Dharamjaigarh Siddhant Tiwari, Lailunga Police arrested the victim’s friend for the brutal murder of a 23-year-old man in Bhakurra village.

The victim, Ramnath alias Sonu Chauhan (23), was found dead on the veranda of his house on the night of July 12, with severe head and neck injuries. A heavy household grinding stone (sil-batta) believed to be the murder weapon was recovered from the scene.

During the investigation, officers collected forensic evidence, including a towel (gamcha) left at the crime scene. The breakthrough came when Police Dog Ruby, handled by Dog Master Constable Virendra Anant, was deployed. After tracking the scent from the crime scene, Ruby unmistakably led investigators to the victim’s friend, Bhuvneshwar Yadav (26).

Based on Ruby’s indication, police detained and interrogated the suspect, who eventually confessed to the crime. According to investigators, the accused and the victim had been drinking alcohol and eating together when an argument broke out. In a fit of rage, the accused allegedly attacked the victim multiple times with the heavy grinding stone, causing fatal head and neck injuries.

Police also recovered the clothes worn by the accused at the time of the offence based on his disclosure statement.

A case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered against Bhuvneshwar Yadav, a resident of Bhakurra village. Police said the accused had previously served jail time in a rape case. He has now been arrested and remanded to judicial custody.

Commending the swift investigation, SSP Shashi Mohan Singh praised the efforts of Lailunga Police, Station House Officer Sub-Inspector Girdhari Sao, the investigating team, and especially Police Dog Ruby and Dog Master Constable Virendra Anant. The SSP announced a reward for Constable Anant for his outstanding contribution to solving the case.
