The police department accomplished the monumental feat of organizing simultaneous ‘Jan Chaupals’ (public meets) across 766 villages in a single day, taking the message of helmet awareness directly to the last mile of the district.

Following rigorous evaluation of the campaign’s execution and impact, Ms. Sonal Rajesh Sharma, State Head of the Golden Book of World Records, officially presented the World Record Certificate and Medal to DIG and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jashpur, Dr. Lal Umed Singh, at a ceremony held at the SP Office. She highly commended the Jashpur Police for their dedicated efforts to minimize road accident fatalities.Driven by Mission to Save LivesTaking serious note of rising road casualties, the Jashpur Police, under the leadership of DIG & SSP Dr. Lal Umed Singh, has been running a massive, community-driven traffic awareness campaign.

The initiative aims not just to enforce traffic rules but to instill a deep sense of personal responsibility among citizens.Campaign Highlights & Massive Public ParticipationMassive Outreach: Traffic awareness interactive sessions (Jan Chaupals) were successfully conducted across all 766 villages of the district yesterday, June 24, 2026, running non-stop from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The Grand Pledge: To foster a culture of road safety, Jashpur Police administered a road safety oath to more than 60,000 citizens.High-Profile Social Media Support: Promoting the cause, the Hon’ble Chief Minister, District In-charge Minister, senior bureaucrats, and over 3,000 prominent citizens recorded and shared video appeals on social media urging people to wear helmets.Mega Helmet Rallies: The campaign originally kicked off on April 18, 2026, with a massive bike rally from the Jashpur Police Lines, led by Jashpur Collector Mr. Rohit Vyas, DIG/SSP Dr. Lal Umed Singh, Municipal Corporation President Mr. Arvind Bhagat, and other officials. Similar rallies were later organized across Pathalgaon, Kunkuri, Bagicha, and various police station jurisdictions, seeing a cumulative participation of over 10,000 citizens.

Strengthening ‘Beat System’ & ‘Police Mitans’To ensure sustainability, Jashpur Police has bolstered its grassroots policing. A dedicated police officer/personnel has been appointed as the “Village Security Officer” for every single village. This officer is tasked with monitoring village security, continuously sensitizing residents about helmets, and resolving local grievances.Furthermore, a strong volunteer network of 5,000 ‘Police Mitans’ has been formed to bridge the gap between the public and police. These volunteers played a pivotal role in organizing the village-level meets and assist police in crime prevention.A Joint AchievementWhile prioritizing helmet compliance for two-wheeler riders, the campaign also educated four-wheeler drivers on seatbelt usage, the dangers of drunk driving, and general traffic regulations. Interestingly, several village panchayats integrated the helmet mandate into their official Gram Sabha resolutions yesterday.
