Raigarah: Raigarh Police Bust Major IPL Betting Syndicate, Seize ₹31.99 Lakh Cash in Operation Ankus……..

Raigarh, June 1, 2026: Under the ongoing “Operation Ankush” against gambling and betting activities, Raigarh Police achieved another major success by busting an organized online cricket betting syndicate operating during the IPL Final match between GT and RCB.

Acting on a tip-off about large-scale online betting in the Ganj Bazaar area of Kharsia, a joint team of Cyber Police Station and Kharsia Outpost conducted simultaneous raids under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shashi Mohan Singh.

During the operation, police arrested Gagan Agrawal (28) and Shubham Agrawal alias Kalu (30) and seized two mobile phones containing online betting records and digital evidence. Based on their interrogation, police identified three more accused—Rikesh Rai, Arjun Rathore, and Sahil Agrawal—as members of the betting syndicate.

Further investigation led police to Sahil Agrawal’s residence near SBI Bank in Gopal Rice Mill Colony. On seeing the police team, Sahil allegedly fled the spot, leaving behind two bags and a currency-counting machine. In the presence of witnesses, police searched the bags and recovered ₹31,99,700 in cash. The accused failed to provide a legitimate source for the money, and investigators suspect it was generated through cricket betting activities.

A case has been registered against all five accused under Section 7 of the Chhattisgarh Gambling Prohibition Act and Sections 112(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police are continuing efforts to arrest the three absconding accused.

SSP Shashi Mohan Singh reiterated that Raigarh Police will continue its crackdown on online betting under Operation Ankush and ensure strict legal action against those involved in illegal gambling networks.

Seized Items: ₹31.99 lakh cash, two mobile phones, and a currency-counting machine.
